The US$700million Atuabo Freeport projects which is underway is expected to be completed by 2017. However, investors have raised concerns about the efficiency of the project in an election year.

Speaking at the Deep Offshore West Africa Congress, Mr. Frank Hagan-Brown, the Commercial Executive at Atuabo, told the prospective investors and participants at the event that, the project has no ties with government. He said ‘Atuabo Free Port is not an apolitical project, with government not even financing the project’

This was to reply a question asked by an international investor during his presentation at the congress. Furthermore, he explained the port will not interfere with activities of existing ports in the country. He reiterated the port when completed will provide accommodation, offices and warehouse space to suit customer’s needs and specifications.

The Deep offshore West Africa congress held on 23rd and 24th June was attended by high profile executives in the Oil and Gas industry such as Director of Oil and Gas Exploration, Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Gabon, Chairman of Department of Petroleum Resources, Nigeria, National Petroleum Director, Ministry of Petroleum, Angola, and the acting Chief Operating Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation with about forty (40) delegates.
