President John Mahama has emphasised that the recent energy crisis is not as a result of deficiency in the country’s installed electricity capacity.
He stated that disruption in gas delivery to the Power Generating Plants due to the breakdown of the West Africa Gas Pipeline is the cause of the short supply.
The President was speaking at a short ceremony to cut the sod for an additional 110 Megawatts of Power Generating Plant at the T-3 Thermal Plant at Aboadze in the Western Region.
President Mahama reiterated his vision to increase the power generating capacity to 5,000 megawatts by 2016.
Meanwhile, President Mahama has expressed satisfaction with the progress of work at the Ghana Gas Processing Plant at Atuabo in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
President Mahama who toured the plant which is 80% complete promised to ensure that people around the catchment area benefit from massive infrastructural development.
The Gas Project will come on stream by December this year.
