    Solomon Kusi Ampofo leads Ghanaian organization Friends of the Nation’s work to monitor  local government’s use of oil and mining revenues.  These efforts are part of a growing civil society movement to hold governments accountable for responsibly managing their resource wealth. Solomon will discuss Friends of the Nation’s work in Ghana to promote community-based budget monitoring and promote investment in small-scale agriculture. Based in Takoradi in Ghana’s Western Region, Friends of the Nation also works with communities along Ghana’s coast who are monitoring the environmental, social and economic impacts of Ghana’s offshore oil boom.
