BNI arrests TOR worker with gun during Mahama visit

  • refineryThe Bureau of National Investigations is investigating a worker of the Tema Oil Refinery who was arrested with a gun during a visit of President John Mahama and the Prime Minister of the Trinidad and Togbago Dr. Keith Christopher Rowley.


    Mr. Senanu Akpade who works with the Environmental Department of TOR was picked up by the security detail of the President after his suspicious movement was noticed ahead of the President’s visit.

    Mr. Mahama visited the refinery on Monday, May 9 with the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr. Rowley to assess the company’s performance since it resumed full operations in February this year.

    According to Starr FM sources at TOR, Mr. Akpade regularly carries a gun to work for no known reason.

    The source revealed to Starr FM that Mr. Akpade was picked up and the gun seized before the arrival of the President and the PM from Trinidad and Tobago.

    Mr. Akpade, according to Starr FM sources, is in the grips of the BNI as investigations continue to ascertain his motive for bringing the gun to work on the day of the President’s visit.

    This is the second person arrested with a gun around President Mahama.

    The first was Charles Antwi, who is currently receiving psychiatric treatment, for saying that he wanted to kill the president so he becomes president of Ghana.

    He was arrested at the President’s church where he had frequented with his gun waiting for the president to shoot him.
