  • Awutu Beraku(C/R), Dec 27, GNA – Two chiefs in the Awutu Beraku and Agona Nyakrom Traditional areas have appealed to political leaders not to misuse the oil revenue but to use it to develop the country.

Nai Kwakurabi Clottey III, Omankrando of Awutu Traditional Area, and Nana Obiri Boa Krampah, Chief of Agona Mensakrom, said expectations of Ghanaians from the oil were high.

"Therefore, nothing should be done to misapply revenue from the oil and gas but rather used to improve infrastructure for the benefit of all," the chiefs said.

The two chiefs said in some oil producing countries, some political leaders and chief executive officers stashed the oil revenue in other countries.

Nai Clottey and Nana Krampah suggested to the Government to create a Special Development Fund to cater for the general development of the Western Region, adding that infrastructures in the Western were not satisfactory.

On the District Level Elections, the two chiefs urged the electorate to vote for people who were dedicated, hardworking and honest to lead them.

The Chiefs called on the National Road Safety Commission and Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service to intensify their education campaign on the need for drivers to obey and observe traffic rules and regulations to reduce accidents.
