Companies should make safety their focus-Mr. Charles Amoateng

  • 86af293a-86c5-4f3e-8348-8cd609a09582The safety manager of Goldfields Ghana Limited, Mr. Charles Opoku Amoateng has reiterated the need for companies in the extractive industries to ensure the safety of their employees and propoerties. He was giving a presentation at the second day of the Ghana extractive industry safety conference in Takoradi where he made emphasis on the need for companies to ensure that, management are committed to ensuring safety in all rounds both to individuals and properties at the work place.

    He said” education, training and awareness by all parties in any company will ensure a safe environment for all workers. He further stated that, employees participation, discipline and safety cannot be compromised for anything. The commitment to safety has a long term of giving employees motivation to become more productive, strong cost control, and enhancement of businesses wherever they are located.

    A concept of it takes two (2) has been developed to ensure safety at some companies. This is through talking to everyone who matters in the organization, take action to curb accidents, develop a knowledge about safety and equipment use in the right way will lead to safety at all levels in the companies.

    The Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (STCCI), in its quest to ensure that local businesses build the required capacities in this very important aspect of their businesses, has organized the second Ghana Extractive Industry Safety Conference (GEISCon) 2016.  The theme of this edition is year;s edition is “DEVELOPING A SUSTAINABLE PREVENTION CULTURE TO SAFEGUARD LIVES AND PROPERTIES” . The conference is a three days conference scheduled to end on 24th June, 2016
