  • Enablis Entrepreneurial Network Ghana (Enablis) has been appointed by the Jubilee Partners and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEF) to establish and run the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) in Takoradi in the Western Region.

Tullow Ghana, Kosmos Energy, Anadarko, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and PetroSA are the Jubilee Partners and they support the government in this endeavour and have agreed to fund the establishment and running of the centre for a period of five years.

The EDC is one of the government’s initiatives to provide support and equip small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enable them to take advantage of business opportunities in the emerging oil and gas sector.

It is expected to provide a range of services such as business training, capacity building programmes, advisory services and access to market and information.

The centre will also act as a focal point for co-ordination between SMEs and oil and gas companies, their contractors and sub-contractors.

It is expected to play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities and facilitating the development of SMEs for their participation in the oil and gas sector.

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, said at the launch of the centre in Accra that it was aimed at ensuring maximum involvement of Ghanaian businesses and individuals in the oil and gas sector.

He said it was the government’s commitment to help locals benefit from the sector, hence the conception of the EDC to help empower local engineers, technicians and entrepreneurs to participate in the sector.

The Country Director of Enablis Ghana, Mr Shika Acolatse, said the EDC was a great opportunity for Ghanaian SMEs in the oil and gas industry and encouraged them to take advantage of the centre and participate fully in its activities.
