Puma Energy has reported that the fire at its storage terminal in Puerto Sandino has been extinguished considerably and is under control.
The plan of action and measures taken to manage the incident were taken in coordination and with the consensus of the respective government authorities and teams of national and international experts.
The Company has identified an area adjacent to the terminal which has been affected by crude. The Company said it is working with national and international companies with expertise in environmental impact analysis to devise an effective remediation plan in coordination with the respective authorities. Puma Energy said it will invest all the necessary resources to carry on such remediation plan.
“We do not anticipate any product shortage because of the inventory levels Puma Energy keeps in other storage plants,” Puma Energy said in a statement.
Puma Energy has initiated an investigation to clarify the causes of the event. The company said it will provide new information as soon as it is available.
