  • 2 FPSOFirst oil production from the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) fields is expected to begin this Thursday, August 18, 2016.

The joint venture project, led by Tullow Ghana is expected to produce about 300 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) over its lifetime (approximately 20 years).

The partners include Tullow Oil (47.185%), Kosmos Energy (17%), Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (17%), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (15%) and PetroSA (3.815%).

President John Mahama who is currently on a campaign tour of the Western region, will join officials of the Petroleum Ministry and Project engineers to officially inaugurate oil production by FPSO Professor John Evans Atta Mills, to mark another major mile stone in Ghana’s oil and gas sector.

According to officials, the field will produce 80,000 barrels of oil per day when it reaches full production. It will also produce an average of 30 MMSCF/D (Million standard Cubic Feet of Gas per day) over the next five years and expected to reach 100 MMSCF/D by 2032.

The key focus of Tullow Ghana and its partners has been local content and local capacity development.

In the Plan of Development (PoD) for TEN approved by the Government of Ghana in 2013, the TEN Partners committed to maximizing local content throughout the project.

FPSO Prof. John Evans Atta Mills is a turret-moored FPSO. The turret is the section that is anchored to the seabed and allows the rest of the vessel to move around it depending on tidal conditions. The turret on the TEN FPSO is the largest turret currently in existence. MODEC Ghana Ltd operates the FPSO on behalf of the TEN Partners.

The Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading vessel 350meters long, 56meters wide and can accommodate 120 people.
