Ghana Gas Project will be completed on schedule-Dr. Yankey

  • The  Chief  Executive  (CEO) Officer of Ghana Gas Company, Dr. George Sipa-Adjah Yankey has  assured Ghanaians  that in memory of the late President  John Mills, the Ghana  Gas  Company will continue  to work  diligently  to ensure  that the  Ghana Gas Project  is implemented on budget and on  schedule  to further the late president  Mills’ vision of better future  for all Ghanaians.

    Dr. Yankey  noted at a press conference at the company’s  premises  at airport  residential area that the  company  is determined  to build  a  first –class company  gas infrastructure for the country.

    According to the CEO, Ghana gas has almost completed the development of programme  to mentor engineers in operational and maintenance.

    “the need  to evacuate  natural  gas  from  the jubilee field  quickly so that  the field  could  be optimally produced  and to avoid  flaring is the  prime  driver  for the project.”

    He stated that company seeks  to  create  an intellectually challenging  atmosphere, which  will bring the  best out of human  capital  and also  enable  the company  complete in the global  market.

    Dr. Yankey added that Ghana Gas Company seeks  to maintain  the  highest  levels  of integrity and professionalism in the  business relation, adding that  the company cherishes  their  pioneering role  in ushering in  a new  dimension to the petrochemical industry in Ghana, “we do have  the motivation to fulfill our mission.’’

    “I therefore  wish to indulge fellow  Ghanaians  and our brothers  and sisters in the catchment  area  to support  this import  national project  and help  make it a success.’’

    Touching  on local  content , the CEO told  the media  that under the  Engineering  Procurement Construction Commissioning, Sinopec has some local content  obligation; he noted that as a result  a number of Ghanaian companies  have been engaged to provide goods and services for the project.

    He said these include haulage rental of equipment, supply of literates, geo  technical studies, typographical surveys, and environmental and social impact assessments.

    He further stated that locals are also engaged in truck driving, crane operations and welding, saying Ghana Gas has directly hired sixty Ghanaian engineers and technicians for construction supervision.

    The CEO said fifty six Ghanaians have also been engaged as community relations officer to protect the pipelines and educate the local communities on the Ghana Gas activities.
