The CEO of Ghana Gas Company, George Sipa Yankey ,has revealed that the company may be forced to cut off supply of gas to the Volta River Authority (VRA) as a result of the breakdown of the compressor that is used to channel gas from the Jubilee Oil Fields to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant.

Reports indicate that technicians working on the gas infrastructure project at Atuabo have indicated that the development will affect their ability to deliver gas to the country’s power generators like the Volta River Authority (VRA).

“We are not happy about the power situation. We are not ready to transport 140 million standard cubic feet of gas to VRA” Sipa Yankey said.

It is expected that this will affect the power producers’ ability to produce more power to meet the needs of domestic consumers and industries.

The gas infrastructure has the capacity to release about 140 million standard cubic feet of gas a day, it is being forced to only release just 54 million standard cubic feet.

This is because some of VRA’s machines are said not be in good conditions to receive all the gas being produced
