Ghana Hosts Oil & Gas Confab

  • The Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) in collaboration with PennWell Petroleum Group is to hold another offshore West Africa conference and exhibition on oil and gas in Accra from March 15-17,2011.
    Offshore West Africa is the premier conference and exhibition for offshore industry and recognizes Ghana as one of the most promising oil and gas production and exploration regions.
    The event is an annual forum that addresses the technical, environmental and business challenges associated with oil and gas exploration and production in West African offshore marketplace. The conference, which is on the theme: Discover New Frontiers in West Africa,’’also provides a unique networking opportunity for participants to share technology and address issues with experts in their respective fields.
    The exhibition is expected to offer oil companies, partners and suppliers of the offshore industry a unique platform to showcase their products and services to senior industry professionals.
    The GNPC provides greater support to the Offshore West Africa 2011 conference and exhibition, with the advisory board including Richard Addo Darko, Lead Geophysicist of GNPC and the Advisory Board Chair and Theo Ahwireng, Senior Geophysicist of GNPC.
    The Operations Manager of GNPC ,Thomas Manu, Stated:’’ PennWell and Offshore West Africa are helping the GNPC gather and gain further expertise in the oil exploration and production industry.’’
    A statement issued by PennWell said’’ Having Offshore West Africa taking place in Ghana is of high interest to national and international oil companies that are familiar with the outstanding conferences held by PennWell Petroleum Group worldwide.’’
    Energy analysts view Ghana as an emerging offshore province with enormous potential for oil and gas reserves. Offshore West Africa organizer. PennWell Petroleum Group ,says it had made the decision to return to Ghana once again, a decision based on the growing energy industry interest in Ghana and nearby countries. The company was in Ghana last year to hold a similar programme.
    ‘’We are pleased to be able to bring Offshore West Africa to Ghana once again,at a time when the industry interest in the region is at an all time high, ’’the company noted.
