    TOP STORIES IN THE MONTH OF MARCH
    In the month of March, 2016, the Public Interest and Accountability Committee published its 2015 Semi Annual Report on Management of Petroleum Revenues. In the report (hyperlink), PIAC disclosed 2015 that Ghana’s proceeds from oil fields decreased by over 50 percent for the first half of 2015.
    Also in the month under review, New TEN Project Floating Production Storage and Off-loading (FPSO) Prof. John Evans Atta Mills arrives in Ghana.

    Other highlights in Ghana’s oil and gas sector includes:
    • BoG, Saltpond oil production company, others slayed in 2015 PIAC report

    Solomon Kwawukume

    Profile of the Month

    Mr. Solomon Kwawukume is currently a senior research officer with the Ghana Institute of Governance and Security and an advocate on the Emerging Upstream Oil and Gas Industry in Ghana since 2009.

    Mr. Kwawukume has 25 years of seasoned experiences in numerous positions including serving as a lecturer in Oil Revenue Management and Petroleum Profit Taxation, at Lagos State College of Science and Technology, Lagos Nigerian from 1978 to 1983. He was also the senior Accountant at Texaco Ghana Limited from 1974-1977 before retirement in 2006. He had worked as senior manager of Employee at Tema Shipyard and Drydock Cooperation (TSDC) and PSC Tema Shipyard Limited (PSCT) from 1990’s.

    He authored a book, Ghana’s Oil and Gas Discoveries: Towards Full Maximum Benefits, written several papers on the extractive industry which includes, ‘the Petroleum Exploration and Production Bill 2014 Cluelessness or A Conspiracy to perpetuate fraud and Robbery of Ghanaians? (2015)’ and ‘the Upstream Petroleum Industry in Ghana. What the Existing Laws say (2015)’

    Institution of the Month
    Ghana Institute of Governance and Security (GIGS) is an independent, non-partisan and non-governmental organization, established in 2011. One key GIGS thematic area is Natural Resource with its target to promote research on natural resources management by advocating for sound national management of Ghana’s natural resources, Environmental Science and Climate Change.
    GIGS seeks to facilitate information sharing, on security intelligence to protect International Relations, Education and protection of natural resources, encouraging Law and justice and promote corporate institutions.
