Ghana :Tullow chasing upside in Tweneboa area

  • SOURCE: | qwesa2big
  • Tullow Oil remains focussed on deepwater exploration offshore Ghana, despite its recent setback with the dry Dahoma-1 well.In January, an appraisal well on the Tweneboa discovery in the Deep Water Tano license confirmed a major oil and gas/condensate field.

The partners will evaluate the potential of this 200-sq km (77-sq mi) turbidite fan system via a new exploration/appraisal drilling campaign. This will start in June with the Owo-1 exploratory well testing upside in the greater Tweneboa resource range in the west of the structure.
Thereafter, Tullow plans a well on the Onyina prospect sandwiched between Tweneboa and the Jubilee field. The rig then will return to work on Tweneboa. In parallel, the partners are working on conceptual field development planning, the aim being to complete their assessment of commerciality during mid-2011.The Atwood Hunter, which drilled Dahoma-1 last month, currently is drilling Mahogany-5 to test up-dip oil accumulations east of Mahogany-3.
