GOIL: Our fuels not contaminated

  • The Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) has encouraged the public to continue patronising its products, saying they are subjected to the best checks to meet industry standards.

The assurance comes amidst allegations that the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has sold five million litres of contaminated fuel to some private companies who have released it to oil marketing companies (OMCs) for sale to the public.

BOST and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) have maintained the off-spec product is not on the market.

Further allaying the fears of the public, Maureen Ama Owoo, the Merchandise and Business Development Manager of GOIL, in an interview with Accra News’ Jedidiah Patrick Anarfi on Saturday July 1, said there are mechanisms in place at the company to ensure it does not retail contaminated fuel.

“All the products we sell, we have engineers who filter them. We have test kits at our stations. Before we deliver fuels to our underground tanks, we test all to determine their potency. …Also if you come to our stations there are laws and procedures we follow in obtaining our fuels. So be rest assured that with GOIL there are no issues with our fuels,” she explained.

Ms Owoo urged consumers to continue buying from GOIL which, being a Ghanaian-owned company, invests its profits in the economy, boosting the domestic economy.
