Hughes heading TEN project in Ghana

  • terry-hughesTerry Hughes is currently the proj­ect director for Tullow Oil lead­ing Ghana’s second major offshore oilfield venture, the TEN Project – a float­ing, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) and sub­sea development approved in 2013. Hughes, a graduate of Strathclyde University, has over 30 years’ experience in the industry working for companies such as Amoco, BP and BG Group. His experience in major projects ranges from off­shore to onshore, upstream to midstream, and across Europe, USA, Asia and South America.

    TEN is in the final design and will have construction activity in Ghana, Asia, Eu­rope and the USA culminat­ing in start-up in mid-2016. He has a wealth of experience in delivering oil and gas proj­ects around the world. He currently resides in London with his wife and oversees satellite work teams around Europe, the Far East and Ghana. Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) project showcase is one of the new main focuses at the Ghana Oil and Gas Summit. Partners in the TEN projects are Tullow, Kosmos Energy, Anadarko Petroleum, Petro SA and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

    The TEN fields are located in the deep-water Tano li­cense which covers an area of more than 800 sq. km, and lies around 20km west of Tullow’s Jubilee field.The TEN project is ex­pected to deliver first oil in 2016, with a plateau produc­tion rate of 80,000 barrels of oil per day. Future development of gas resources at TEN is anticipated following e commencement of oil start-up.

    Ghana expects at least $20 billion of investment in its booming oil industry over next five years, mainly m foreign companies, according to Alex Mould, chief executive officer, GNPC in a recent interview. The CEO said the money would mainly be spent on developing three offshore blocks – the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points block, TEN blocks and the Sankofa block.

    The TEN field will see $1.4 billion in investment this year alone, whiles 2014 spending plans for Sankofa and Deepwater Tano /Cape Three Points are yet to be determined, he said.
