  • Mr Victor Nyianyi Kablan, Jomoro District Chief Executive, has asked investors to take advantage of the oil discovery and rich ecology to invest in the area.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra, Mr Kablan said communities within the district had various attractions that potential investors could invest in.

He said in addition to the prevailing peace in the district, there were large tracts of land which investors could access without any obstacles to create job opportunities for the population.

"As a policy, land is not sold within communities in the district. Instead, land is used as equity in any project that the investor undertakes so that future generations could also benefit," he said.

About 68 per cent of Jomoro’s population has access to electricity and the imminent commencement of work on two strategic national industrial facilities, the Osagyefo (Power Generation) Barge and the GNPC’s proposed Gas Processing Plant, could very well propel the district into an energy production hub not only for the Western Region but the entire country.

"Access to electricity is critical for investors and these projects provide an added advantage for potential investors to obtain reliable electrical energy," Mr Kablan said.

Mr Kablan said there was strong political will to foster good relationship with potential investors, adding that there was guaranteed security for the safe protection of investments in the area.

Besides investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector, investors can also explore opportunities in the tourism sector by taking advantage of the rich and diverse tourism potential in the area.

Jomoro is home of the re-discovered Amansuri Wetlands on which is located ‘Nzulezu’, Ghana’s famous village on stilts, the Meandah Nature Trail and the Ebonloa Canopy Trail.

"Then there is the breathtaking Ankasa National Park – the 509 kilometre square forest conservation famous for being the world’s second richest forest in terms of its variety and bio-diversity in flora and fauna," Mr Kablan said.

He said Jomoro District Assembly had the responsibility to work to improve living standards of the people of Jomoro through effective mobilisation, utilisation and management of human and material resources, with the active support of the private sector and development partners, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
