The Kumasi Institute of Technology, Energy and Environment (KITE), in collaboration with the African Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) and the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), will on August 3rd, 2016 at 9am hold a policy dialogue session on the prioritisation of the Annual Budget Funding Amount (ABFA) for the period 2017-2019 at the Science and Technology Policy Research Institute in Accra.

The dialogue aims at creating a consultative and inclusive process for selecting the next set of spending priorities to be funded by petroleum revenues for the next 3 years. This policy dialogue is coming at the time when concerns have  raised by Public Interest and Accountability Committee on the way and manner ABFA has been utilised in the past five years.

The dialogue session will start with a civil society-led national discourse to stimulate views and opinions from a cross-section of Ghanaians on how best petroleum revenues can be used to engender maximum impact as envisioned by the framers of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (PRMA)2011. (Act 815)

Other presentations expected to be made are the Analysis of ABFA-funded projects from 2011-2015, a brief presentation by the Ministry of Finance on the criteria and processes for prioritizing ABFA spending and finally there will be a brainstorming on ABFA spending priorities for 2017-2019.

The dialogue is expected to be attended by stakeholders, civil society groups, policy experts and the media.
