Kosmos Energy to scale up production in Jubilee and TEN fields

  • SOURCE: GoldStreet | qwesa2big
  • Kosmos Energy is set to scale up its daily oil production from the 100,000 barrels it produces per day in the Jubilee fields to 120,000 barrels.
Production in the Tweneboa, Enyenra, and Ntomme (TEN) will be increased from 65,000 barrels per day to 80,000 barrels.
The company discovered oil in the Jubilee fields in 2007 but started first production in late 2010.
It also received approval for the TEN Plan of Development, and began production in 2016.
Speaking to Goldstreet Business, Kosmos Ghana Country Manager, Mr Joe Mensah, said the company is currently working to enhance field performance.
“For the past months we have stepped up production at the Jubilee to 100,000 and 65,000 at the TEN. That is the daily target that we have set for ourselves. And we fluctuate around it. We would like to move TEN to 80,000 and the Jubilee to 120,000.
He revealed production has not been very smooth as the company is dealing with numerous challenges within the sector.
He indicated that “when we started TEN there were issues, there were bottlenecks that we had to fine tune. We did the same for Jubilee, we did a lot of research there. So now both facilities are under serious control in terms of how we have engaged other companies. “
Kosmos and its partners are currently awaiting approval for the Greater Jubilee Full Field Development Plan from the Ministry of Petroleum to start developing it
