  • oil-dropsLocal content on the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) fields in the Western Region continued to increase compared to the Jubilee field and that is commendable, President John Dramani Mahama has said.

He made this comment today, Thursday August 18, when commissioning the First Oil from the TEN fields in the Western Region. The joint venture project, led by Tullow Ghana is expected to produce about 300 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) over its lifetime (approximately 20 years). The partners include Tullow Oil (47.185%), Kosmos Energy (17%), Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (17%), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (15%) and PetroSA (3.815%).

Mr Mahama said: “I want to thank all the partners who worked on this project and also to note specifically that local content in these projects continue to increase compared to Jubilee, which was fast-track development. We didn’t have an eye for local content but in this particular one it has been quite deliberate, quite focused and much of the work that went into this FPSO work was done locally in Ghana.

“And also in respect of human resource, we have come a long way. There are many local faces working both onshore and offshore to make this project feasible.

“And so today is a great day for all the partners… I wish to encourage you to continue to work hard and I am sure Ghana’s hydrocarbon prospects are very bright. I believe that the setbacks in the world market are temporary and that we will see a local [brisk] sooner or later that will give a fair price to producers and affordable price to those who use the product from our petroleum industry.”
