Muslims pray for success of country’s oil drilling

An intercessory prayer had been held by the Muslim community in the Ashanti region, to seek the face of Allah, as the country’s oil begin pouring out in commercial quantities from Wednesday.

The prayers, organized by the Tijanniya Muslim Movement, was to pray to Allah to give guidance and knowledge to the government and managers of the oil resources and to direct their actions, to ensure that it brings greater blessing to the nation.

Mr Abdul Rafieu Bante, a leader of the Tijanniya Movement, recalled the organization of similar prayers by the late Grand Sheik of the Movement, Maulana Ibrahim Inyass, at the request of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, before the opening of the Akosombo dam.

He said the prayers, which is going to be an annual affair, will give praise and thanks to Allah and seek His guidance and blessings to prevent accidents, malpractices and other negative activities that could deny the people the full benefits of the oil and gas resources.

Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minster of Land and Forestry, Mr Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of NDC, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarack, Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mr Kofi Opoku Manu, Ashanti regional Minister and Mr Patrick Timbilah, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, were among those present.
