NAVIGATIONAL WARNING: Locate to and operate a Floating, Production, and Offloading Vesse

  • The Ghana Maritime Authority wishes to inform the seafaring community and the general public that ENI Ghana Exploration and Production Limited proposes to locate to and operate a Floating, Production, and Offloading Vessel (FPSO) at the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Sankofa and Gye Nyame Oil Fields Deep Water Port (DWP) in the Atlantic Ocean and within Ghana’s Maritime Jurisdiction. The installation work involves the use of heavy equipment that pose danger to safety of navigation and mariners. Additional risks include collisions and use of open fires by mariners in close proximity to the oil and gas installation.

    The Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority is required by Section of the Ghana Shipping Act, 2003 (Act 645) to advise the seafaring community and the public of developing or existing situations which may adversely affect maritime safety.

    By this notice, all mariners and vessels (including but not limited to the following; ships, canoes, rafts and all kinds of watercrafts however propelled) are advised in the interest of safety to maintain a safe distance of four (4) nautical miles vectored from the centre position of the FPSO which is to be centred on:

    Latitude: 04o28’09.678” N, Longitude: 002o 33’ 12.140” W as shown on the attached charlet.
