NEW FORUM FOR GHANA’S OIL AND GAS UPSTREAM SECTOR

    slide2New association for Ghana’s oil and gas upstream sector, the Ghana Exploration and Production Forum (The Forum) http://www.gh-epf.org, has been formed to promote the long term sustainability of the oil and gas industry in Ghana. Registered as a non-profit association, it brings together private sector upstream oil and gas companies operating in Ghana. The Forum which consists of members such as Tullow Oil, Kosmos Energy, Hess and Vitol among others, seeks to achieve this objective through formal and informal dialogue with Government, civil society and interest groups especially in areas relating to local content and regulation in order to achieve and meet the interests of its members.

    The Forum is expected to hold meetings and workshops in a bid to demystify and project the understanding of the oil and gas industry to the general public and also highlight the role of International Oil Companies (IOCs) in Ghana. This is expected to give public insight into the activities of IOCs and to also bring to fore the benefits and opportunities associated with the investments of these organizations in the economy of the country.

    The Ghana Exploration and Production Forum which started as an informal gathering of the representatives from the various oil and gas companies operating in Ghana, comes at a time the industry is growing with new fields coming up in the near future to provide a common front for upstream industry players.
