News Review for Monday 20th November 2017: West Africa Gas Pipeline to be completed by Q2 of 2018

  • Welcome to another busy week in November. Today the media landscape reported on state online portal “Review compensation payment in mining communities”. According to the news portal, the Campaign Coordinator of the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC), Dr Steve Manteaw, has called for a shift from the current system of paying cash compensation for land acquisition to holding equity shares in companies for the future generation. The current practice, he said, did not augur well for the interest of the future generation as in most cases, the family heads used the proceeds for their personal gains.

    Also, the Accra-based news portal Classfmonline disclosed “Puma Energy’s profit up 8%”. They explained that Puma Energy, the global integrated midstream and downstream energy company, today released its results for the third-quarter of 2017 with gross profit increasing by 8%.

    Furthermore, the business media portal, Business and Financial times, “West Africa Gas Pipeline to be completed by Q2 of 2018”.The West African Gas Pipeline Reverse Gas Flow Project is expected to be ready by second quarter of next year, to ensure free flow of gas from Aboadze to Tema for power generation, Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko has said. Currently, gas from oilfields in the western coast only terminates at the Aboadze thermal enclave in the Western Region.
