  • Calm returns to the extractive sector on Thursday with report on NRGI 2017 Resource Governance Index launched on Wednesday. On Friday, June 30, Daily graphic reports ‘BOST workers renew confidence in MD’’ on Page.16 According to the newspaper, workers of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Limited have renewed their confidence in the managing director of the company saying he has the ability to successfully manage the company.

Also the paper reports on page 20 that ‘Police invite six NPA, TOR officials over diesel oil deal’’. It further explained that six officials from the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) have been invited by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service for their alleged involvement in an oil deal that led to the evasion of taxes by the three oil dealers.

Again, BFTOnline reports on NRGI Resource Governance Index on ‘Ghana’s oil and gas sector best-governed in Sub-Saharan Africa-report’. According to the online news portal, the Index results confirm challenges with national budgeting; rules specific to petroleum revenues do not provide for adequate safeguards against budget deficits and debt accumulation.

Furthermore, the most credible online portal, CITI business, disclosed ‘FPSO shutdown not to exceed 12 weeks – Tullow’. Tullow Oil has announced that its planned shutdown of the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah later this year, will not exceed the proposed twelve weeks.
