Oil marketing industry hit with stiff competition

flowoilflowGhana’s oil marketing industry is being rated as one of the competitive sectors in the country following the implementation of petroleum price deregulation.

The regulator of the industry the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) introduced the Petroleum Price deregulation, in 2015.

The deregulation policy allows Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to fix their own prices, in an attempt to introduce competition to the ultimate benefit and protection of the consumer.

Its implementation was geared at sanitizing the country’s petroleum downstream sector.

Currently, the NPA supervises the ceiling at which the OMCs cannot go beyond in pricing their petroleum products.

The deregulation has led to competitive pricing among OMCs.

Majority of the companies in a bid to stay competitive have come up with various promotions and strategies to ensure high patronage of their products and services and also to give customers the best value for their money.

Oil Marketing Company, Total for example tells Citi Business News the introduction of a number of new products as well as promotions has contributed in the company’s growth in the past months.

Sales and Marketing Manager for Total Petroleum Ghana Limited, Abdul- Rahim Siddiqe, tells Citi Business News deregulation of the sector has pushed most OMCs to step up their game.

‘The deregulation has brought up in its wake very active competition in the industry and within that competitive environment if you are selected for an award it makes you to value it more, that even in this environment of stiff competition you are doing something good’.

Total on Monday launched the Total Wo Adze Oye Promotion.

The aim of the promotion is further push the total brand out into the market and give its customers value for their money as well as the chance to win fantastic prizes

To be part of this promo customers will have to buy a minimum of sixty Ghana cedis fuel with cash or fifty Ghana cedis with your B2C Total card.

Scratch gently the card you receive from the attendant to reveal your card number.

Text the card number at no cost to 1936. Eg. TOTAL A25B1.

You will receive a notification confirming your successful entry.

Customers also stand the chance of winning amazing prizes at the end of every two weeks.

The final draw for Northern and Southern zones will be on the 6th of January 2017, where the network sites would be divided into zones, namely Northern (Kumasi and Tamale Areas) and Southern zones (Accra and Takoradi Areas) with the following prizes for each zone.

The first prize is a brand new Mitsubishi ASX gls for two winners.
