AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated workforce as:
FIRE TENDER DRIVER
Role Purpose
The Fire Tender Driver is required to respond to emergency situations by operating the Company’s Fire Tender.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Safely drive firefighting apparatus to and form fires or other emergencies following laws and regulations, operating pumps, aerial devices, power and other mechanical equipment as required, keep inventory of tools, and equipment on apparatus
- Clean and service assigned apparatus, maintaining it in a condition of readiness, report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment to the proper authority
- Perform required apparatus maintenance, cleaning duties, inventory checks and weekly inspections. Additionally, after every emergency response or training drill, inventories must be checked before leaving the emergency response or training location
- Participate in Department training sessions and company drills
- Perform general firefighting duties as assigned
- As part of in-service training, inspect residential buildings, places of assembly for fire hazars or conditions dangerous to life and property
- Attend the emergency control room
- Discharging your duty as assigned by Mine Rescue team Captain
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Qualification
- valid driver’s license F.
- Firefighting certificate
- Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)
- Physically and medically fit to AGA Standard
- Computer literacy
Experience
- Considerable skill in the driving of fire apparatus or other emergency vehicles
- Thorough knowledge of the mechanical principles involved in the operation of fire apparatus and associated equipment. Considerable knowledge of fire service hydraulics and the operation of water distribution systems
- Considerable skill in the use and operation of mechanical and automotive fire equipment with the ability to demonstrate its use and operation to others
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, to react quickly and calmly under emergency conditions and to use judgment in making work decisions
- Knowledge of modern fire prevention and suppression practices
- Knowledge and appropriate application of Department Standard Operating Guidelines
