INVITATION TO TENDER FOR PROVISION OF FULL WAVEFORM ACOUSTIC LOGGING (FWAL)
AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Limited (AAIL) is a Mining Company located in Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana.
As part of developing 3D Models for Geological Structures and Rock Strength Characteristics for its mining environment, AAIL needs Full Waveform Acoustic Logging (FWAL) for 12 boreholes.
Introduction and Application of FWAL
Borehole televiewer logging tools are used to obtain oriented images of borehole cores when core recovery is difficult, costly or otherwise not available. Two different methods or technologies are available: the first uses the acoustic signal from a rotating sonar transducer and is called an “Acoustic Televiewer’’. The Second uses a high resolution digital colour camera with light source and is called an “Optical Televiewer’’.
Acoustic Borehole scanner tools generates an image of the borehole wall by transmitting ultrasound pulses from a rotating sensor and recording the amplitude and travel time of the signals reflected from the formation (borehole wall). Conventional acoustic logs are based on a small fraction of the potential information available in the acoustic wavetrain propagating down the borehole. The objective of Full Wave Acoustic Logging (FWAL) is to record, process and interpret the entire acoustic wavetrain to extract more of the information.
Some application of borehole televiewer logging include
SCOPE OF WORK
The prospective service contractor is expected to provide data from Full Waveform Acoustic Logs (FWAL) for 12 boreholes. The boreholes have average depth of 150m.
