National development hinges greatly on the optimal utilization of nations natural resources, energy, technology, political environment and its human resources. The advent of technology has been the game changer especially the customized use of robotic solutions.
Across the globe, robotic solutions are deployed in manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, environment, power, security, engineering, health, entertainment, education, security among other areas to facilitate processes. Countries who predominantly leverage on the benefits of robotic solutions, include the United States of America, China, Germany, Switzerland, Italy Japan, South Korea and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. In Europe alone, 15 major companies produce industrial robots.
The current government announced its intention to deploy drone technology in the monitoring of mining activities especially “galamsey” as contained in the MMIP and to use satellite imagery and drone technology for the distribution of drugs and blood to hospitals across Ghana. Despite the fact that applying robotic solutions may provide opportunities for Ghana by improving labour productivity across sectors not much has been done.
