    SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION (UPGRADE) OF DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS

    UNDER NEDCo GRID INTENSIFICATION IN THE UPPER EAST AND UPPER WEST OPERATIONAL AREAS

     

    The Government of Ghana has received a grant from the Government of the Swiss Confederation through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) toward the cost of the Ghana Electricity Sector Support Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the Contract for Supply and Installation (Upgrade) of Distribution Networks under NEDCo Grid Intensification in the Upper East and Upper West Operational Areas.

     

    The GEDAP Secretariat now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for Supply and Installation (Upgrade) of Distribution Networks under NEDCo Grid Intensification in the Upper East and Upper West Operational Areas. The works comprise the strengthening/extension of some existing 34.5kV network, construction/upgrade of some existing 11.5kV network, the extension/upgrade of some LV distribution network, upgrade/injection of transformers and installation of new service connections in the Upper East and Upper West Operational Areas of NEDCo in Ghana as follows:

     

    Upper East Region

    • Supply, install, test and commission approximately 34 cct km of 3-phase MV lines on 11m steel poles with 120sqmm AAC
    • Supply, install, test and commission 94 No. of Pole Mounted Distribution Substations
    • Supply, install, test and commission 67 cct km of a combination of 3-phase 4 wire and 1-phase 2 wire LV line on 9m wood poles with 50sqmm AAC
    • Conversion of 11 cct km of 1-phase 2 wire LV lines to 3-phase 4 wire LV lines
    • Supply, install, test and commission approximately 3200 new service connections
    • Removal of non-standard distribution network

     

    Upper West Region

    • Supply, install, test and commission approximately 30 cct km of 3-phase MV lines on 11m steel poles with 120sqmm AAC
    • Supply, install, test and commission 96 No. of Pole Mounted Distribution Substations
    • Supply, install, test and commission 81 cct km of a combination of 3-phase 4 wire and 1-phase 2 wire LV lines on 9m wood poles with 50sqmm AAC
    • Conversion of 3.5 cct km of 1-phase 2 wire LV lines to 3-phase 4 wire LV lines
    • Supply, install, test and commission approximately 3700 new service connections
    • Removal of non-standard distribution network

     

    Nature of Activities

    The detailed scope of work in all the locations shall in general cover, notwithstanding anything else contained in the document, necessary detailed design or design-modification, manufacture/assembly, arrangement for inspection, testing at the supplier’s works before dispatch, packing for export, transportation/dispatch and insurance, off-loading at the destination, supply and delivery at the site, preconstruction site survey and investigations, foundation work, earthing, complete erection and installation, finishing, testing at the site, commissioning, and setting to work and maintenance activities for the specified period.

    The time for completion of all the facilities will be Fifteen (15) Months from the contract effective date.

    To be eligible for Award of Contract, Bidders shall provide satisfactory evidence to the Employer of their eligibility and of their capability and adequacy of resources to carry out the contract effectively.

    Bidding will be conducted through international competitive procurement using a Request for Bids (RFB) as specified in internationally recognized “Procurement Regulations” and is open to all eligible Bidders.
