AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self –motivated person to join our dedicated team as:
LABORATORY ANALYST
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for sampling preparation, equipment calibrations, weighting, calculations and spreadsheet reporting of all contaminant exposure indicators.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Health, Safety and Environment
- Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awareness
- Prepare instruments for contaminant exposure sampling
- Be responsible for accurately weighing and recording dust samples using gravimetric
- Calibratemeasuring instruments (Dust, Noise, Gas, DPM, etc)
- Complete and submit accurate sampling reports.
- Preparesamples for silica dust and DPM analysis.
- Documentworkplace stressors with sufficient duration and frequency to effectively analyze personnel exposure.
- Plan and complete work/reports in a manner that reflects commitment to and supports achievement of quality, occupational environment goals
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the work area
- Manage effective hygiene laboratory.
- Ensurevalid data for Occupational Hygiene are available for a specific workplace, personnel or section of the operation daily
- Ensure all measuring instrument are calibrated weekly
- Ensure sample results are recorded in occupational hygiene database daily.
- Provide information on occupational hygiene matters related to a specific workplace or section of the operation.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
A Bachelor Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Biological /Chemical sciences
Experience
At least 1 year experience in managing laboratory
Technical competencies
- Gravimetric sampling techniques
- Abilityto use Microsoft Excel and preserving information
- Excellentreport writing
- Excellentpresentation and communication skills
- Very organized, detail orientated and ability to work for long hours.
VENTILATION ENGINEER
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
Plan, manage and ensure an occupational environment that is conducive to good health and productivity. The Ventilation Engineer will be responsible for ventilation planning & survey statutory monitoring and reporting, supervising ventilation constructions/fans etc.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Health, Safety and Environment
- Provide safe and conducive work environment adequate ventilation in all working areas.
- Be responsible for the secondary ventilation auditing, reporting and updating in Ventism model.
- Work withthe Mine Captains and supervisors to get ventilation works carried out in a timely manner and to the specified standard of quality
- Inspect ventilation infrastructure in active and active and inactive (Care and Maintenance) areas of the mine and update on mine plans using Surpac software.
- Conductpressure surveys on vertical infrastructure to calibrate ventilation model
- Plan and be accountable for the outputs from monthly ventilation surveys
- Prepare and update ventilation flows on mine rescue plans as per Ghana mining regulations.
- Be responsible for inputting data into ventilation database including weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
- Be responsible to set underground regulators and update regulator register
- Ensure compliance in areas of Mine ventilation and Occupational Health as per Ghana Mining Regulations
- Inspection of future secondary fan sites for preparation work
- Primaryfan inspection and primary fan collar survey
- Support ventilation network planning and survey at the Care and Maintenance area of the mine.
- Ensuresecondary ventilation surveys are completed weekly and collated into monthly report
- Ensuresecondary ventilation survey results are updated in ventilation database
- Updateemergency plans and procedures monthly
- Ensure regulator register is updated and communicated to stakeholders weekly
- Ensure sampleresults are recorded in occupational hygiene database daily.
- Provideinformation on occupational hygiene matters related to a specific workplace or section of the operation

SENIOR VENTILATION ENGINEER
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
Plan, manage and ensure an occupational environment that is conducive to good health and productivity. The Senior Ventilation Engineer will be responsible for ventilation planning &survey, statutory monitoring and reporting, supervising ventilation constructions/fans etc.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Health, Safety and Environment
- Ensureconducive work environment such that contaminants and environmental stressors are below occupational exposure limits
- Provide safe and conducive work environment by ensuring adequate ventilation in all working areas.
- Ensure compliance in areas of Mine ventilation and Occupational Health as per Ghana Mining Regulations.
- Prepareand be accountable for the planning of mine ventilation works, including the placement of secondary fans, the siting and design of regulators and stoppings and the sealing of stopes so as to deliver the required minimum quantities of fresh air to scheduled working places.
- Plan and be accountable for the outputs from monthly ventilation surveys
- Prepareand issue Ventilation Work instructions (stope & development blast, construction, etc)
- Identitybusiness improvement opportunities within the work area
- Have ownership and be responsible for Ventilation network planning and survey at the care and maintenance areas of the mine.
Personnel
- Ensure that ventilation work instructions are issued to the mining team weekly
- Work withthe Mine Captains and Supervisors to get ventilation works carried out in a timely manner and to the specified standard of quality.
Meetings, Reviews and Communication
- Communicate the Short-Medium Term ventilation planning to all mining team.
- Provide technical advice to mine operation on ventilation system deviations/deficiencies and solutions
Audit, Controls, Quality and Compliance
- Prepare and submit statutory ventilation reports
- Have ownership and be accountable for issuing blasting time and input ventilation information into ventilation log book for statutory requirements.

OCCUPATION HYGIENIST
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
Plan, manage and ensure an occupational environment that is conducive to good health and productivity. The Occupational Hygienist will be responsible for personal and spot sampling of contaminants (Dust, DPM, Gas, Noise. etc) for surface and underground, Liaise with Occupational Medical Practitioner on employee exposure, prepare and submit legal reports, etc.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Health, Safety and Environment
- Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awareness
- Conduct and interpret occupational risk assessments/surveys and measurements in underground operational and surface plants, workshops etc.
- Liaisewith occupational medical practitioner for periodic employees medical screening based on contaminant exposure
- Ensureall active working areas are sampled (Spot and personal sampling) for contaminants quarterly
- Identify, evaluate and address high risk areas and impact of operations and initiate corrective occupational hygienic measures in conjunction with Chief Ventilation Engineer.
Strategic
- Design, implement, evaluate coordinate and manage effective and sustainable occupational hygiene management systems based on findings.
- Arrange monitoring surveys of underground contaminants (Dust, Gas, DPM, etc.) for ventilation modeling and planning
- Plan, monitor and implement reliable personal exposure sampling of environmental stressors.
- Assist with theplanning of mine ventilation requirements; ensuring contaminants are within occupational exposure limits
- Identifybusiness improvement opportunities within the work area
- Manageeffective hygiene laboratory
Meetings, Review and Communication
- Develop and implement occupational hygiene communication, training and awareness programmes
