Parliament has approved the 2017 work program of activities of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, (GNPC) in accordance with section 7(3) (b) of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act 2011, Act 815.
The GNPC has undertaken to among other projects engage in exploration and appraisal works in the Voltaian Basin, capitalization of Ghana Gas, development and production activities at the Jubilee Field, TEN and Sankofa-Gye Nyame as well as the relocation of operational Head Office to Takoradi.
This year’s works on the Voltaian Basin Studies alone has been estimated at 31-Point-97 Million US Dollars while management of the GNPC has made provision of Seven-point-Five Million US Dollars for the relocation of the headquarters project for the year.
The Chairman of the Mines and Energy Committee Emmanuel Kwasi Gyamfi presented the Committee’s report for on the 2017 work programme of activities of the, GNPC.
The Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu asked GNPC and government to take steps to address the findings of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee.
The Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation and MP for Old Tafo Dr. Osei Akoto assured the Minority of government’s commitment to addressing challenges facing the GNPC.
The Ranking Member on the Mines and Energy Committee and MP for Damongo Mutawakilu Adam seconded the Motion for the adoption of the report on the 2017 work program of activities of the GNPC.
