Surv. Dr. Isaac Bonsu KARIKARI,  FGhIS (FELLOW, GHANA INSTITUTION OF SURVEYORS)

CURRENT POSITION

Surv. Dr. Isaac Bonsu Karikari is the Acting Project Coordinator of the Government’s flagship blueprint, the Project Appraisal and Implementation Document (PAID) of the Multi-sectoral Mining Integrated Project (MMIP). The MMIPs PAID covers the overall strategy and activity components that the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR) has developed to help curb the illegal mining menace (Galamsey), as well as sanitize the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector in Ghana.

Prior to this, he served a Team Leader of Government Transition Team on Land and Natural Resources, 1st Executive Director of KARICEL Foundation (NGO), National Project Coordinator of Land Administration Project (LAP-2)- Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Ghana, Land Administration Project Manager ath Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), Ghana and Core Team Member (Advisor to Government on Land Issues ) Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), Ghana

PUBLICATIONS

Surv. Dr. Isaac Bonsu Karikari has a number of publications in reputed International Journals on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Land Administration, having contributed to Book Chapters/Case Studies on the subject.

RESOURCE PERSON’S ROLE

Played the role as a resource person, notably in UNDPs ‘Nkotahodie’ Policy Dialogue as a discussant on Artisanal Small-Scale Mining Legal Requirement in Ghana; and on the Maiden Mining Investment West Africa Conference in Ghana, etc. A team member of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey sensitizing Artisanal Small-Scale Miners.

AWARD (2006):

(Awarded International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Paper of the Month for February, 2006 on GIS and Land Administration @ the 5th FIG West Africa Regional Conference. Paper reprinted in IIS News, Irish Institution of Surveyors, Spring 2006, pp. 32-44).

VOLUNTARY WORK

Avid Church Worker: Ex. Deacon of Glory Assemblies of God Church, Tema; Ex. Secretary to the Church Board of that Church; currently Sunday School Bible Teacher @ Fountain of Glory Assemblies of God (FOG) and Chairman of the Marriage Committee of FOG.

INTERESTS AND HOBBIES

Writing, Reading; Christian Evangelism and Sunday School Bible Teaching; and Football, Lawn and Table Tennis, and Scrabble.

He holds PhD from University of Leeds, United Kingdom, MSc., Geo-Information Systems for Urban Applications and BSc., (Hons), Land Economy.
