President Rawlings Deserves Monumental Praise For Oil Find!

In spite of all the unnecessary attempt by John Agyekum Kufuor and his NPP to create the false impression that President Jerry John Rawlings did nothing to support Ghana’s oil find, the facts are more than clear that the Founder of the NDC, during his 19 year period as President of the Republic of Ghana, worked tirelessly to make sure that the event that took place two days ago, became a reality.

As forcefully put out by His Excellency President Atta Mills, it is a matter of fact that President Rawlings invested “massively” in making sure that Ghana joins the league of Oil Producing Countries.
According to President Atta Mills, it is the PNDC/NDC Government of President Rawlings that laid the solid foundation for Ghana’s oil find to be a reality.

Indeed, it is also a fact that it was during the tenure of President Rawlings that the major and critical legislation for Ghana’s oil industry was established. If for any reason, John Kufuor thought that he would be able to obliterate the good works of President Rawlings as far as Ghana’s oil find is concerned, Wednesday, December 15, 2010, wrote the true history of Ghana’s oil find and in that history, President Jerry John Rawlings stands very tall.

Indeed, Kufuor tried hard, but did not succeed in re-writing the history of Ghana. The Informer has spoken to a few NPP officials who applauded President Rawlings for his vision and foresight in setting up the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), under the watch of Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, which has been in the forefront of the nation’s oil find, leading to the colourful and historic event that took place in Takoradi.

Truth be told, the presence of President Rawlings and his beautiful wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings at the function in Takoradi, is a source of joy to many well-meaning Ghanaians. The one-time First Couple of Ghana worked hard to give the nation oil, and it was heartening to see them at the occasion and it was also not surprising that they received a lot of praise from the people who were present to grace the occasion.

President Rawlings did his best to get Ghana to become an Oil Producing Country and President Atta Mills did the right and proper thing by acknowledging the excellent work of his former boss.
Indeed, President Mills, per his strong commendation of the work of President Rawlings, is a strong pointer to the fact that the current President respects his former boss, and will at all times give him his due, and praise him for his good works.

It is said that, “Truth crushed to earth, shall rise again”, and no matter how much Kufuor and his NPP invest in destroying, President Rawlings, GNPC, and Tsatsu Tsikata’s contribution to where Ghana has gotten to in terms of producing oil, history will always find a good place for President Rawlings and his nation-loving role and developing Ghana’s oil sector.
