Restoration of gas from Jubilee field to take longer than expected

  • pgGhanaians may have to endure the ongoing load shedding exercise a little while as the Tullow Oil plc, the operator of the Jubilee field is uncertain when they will restore gas to the Ghana National Ghana Company.

    According to Ghana Gas, though the operators of the Jubilee field, which is Tullow is currently working hard to reinstate gas export the company has notified them that it needs a minimum of a week to ascertain what caused the disruption.

    Tullow on Tuesday July 7, 2015 halted the production and export of gas to Ghana Gas onshore processing plant temporarily.Speaking to Citi Business News Corporate Affairs Manager of Ghana Gas, Mr Alfred Ogbamey, said the development would definitely result in an interruption in the company’s ability to produce lean gas for power production and LPG among others.

    “Tullow has given us information that suggests that they expect to be able to identify and rectify the challenges they face within a period of a week upwards. In other words we are looking at a week upwards depending on the level of the problem.”

    Mr Alfred Ogbamey told Citi Business News that Tullow was currently ascertaining the level of damage done to the compressor processing of the FPSO which has been affected and depending on what they find then they will proceed to work on it.
