  • Speakers at the “Jubilee First Oil Exhibition” in Ho on Wednesday, asked students to take their studies seriously because Ghana’s emerging oil industry offers them a future of unlimited opportunities.

Mr Kennedy Noonoo, a representative of the Tullow Oil Plc and Partners, said the exhibition aimed at inspiring the youth to take advantage of oil-related training programmes and fit into the oil industry.

He said there were immeasurable opportunities for every professional in the oil industry.

Mr Noonoo, however, said for science students in particular, the industry offers them interesting opportunities to be directly involved in the core business of oil.

He said there was great potential for the discovery of more commercial crude oil in the country.

“Students, the oil business is yours”, Colonel Cyril Necku, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister said.

He called on Ghanaians to be vigilant and protect the oil industry from being “colonized” by foreigners many of whom are acquiring land strategically with the industry in mind.

Togbe Kwaku Ayim III, Fiaga of Ziavi, reminded students that the emerging oil industry was about to offer them new and wider frontiers of study.

He asked teachers to encourage their students to diversify their areas of study to include oil-related programme.
