Africa, currently, supplies about 12 per cent of the global oil and boasts significant untapped reserves estimated at 8 per cent of the world’s proven reserves. Africa’s rich oil fields and the prospects for more discoveries have transformed the continent into an important player and a key “target” in global oil production and resource extraction. Achieving a sustainable development that is based on natural resource wealth include using these resources to promote the diversification of economies, increased value addition, and beneficial integration into global value chains. This highlights the need for a development strategy more closely oriented to societal concerns and rooted in broadening the economic base on the continent of Africa.
In recognition of these intrinsic prospects in the sub – region, the second edition of the Sub-Sahara Africa Upstream Oil & Gas Summit & Exhibition has been scheduled to hold from 6th to 8th April 2016 with the theme “Preparing for the challenges of changing times” at Holiday Inn, Airport City Centre, Accra, Ghana.
