Takoradi Polytechnic begins training in oil and gas

  • oilThe Takoradi Polytechnic begun training students in oil and gas related courses at its newly established Jubilee Technical Training Centre (JTTC).

    The courses, begun in September, are to enable participants acquire skills for jobs in the oil and gas industry.

    Mr Mathew Gyan, Director of the JTTC, said the six-month programme has been designed to fast track the developmental needs of the oil and gas industry and help ensure a rewarding.

    Addressing the first batch of students at an orientation programme at the JTTC, Mr Gyan said the course is elaborate enough to offer skills for the youth of Ghana.

    He entreated interested Ghanaians to avail themselves for training to enable the nation achieve its 90 percent local content requirement for the oil and gas industry.

    The Director said the six-month course would qualify students to work in upstream, downstream, onshore and offshore sections either in the petroleum or allied industries.

    In addition, Mr Gyan said, students would be trained in health, safety, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical and process engineering as well as providing quality training to enable them excel in their various fields of endeavours.

    The JTTC was established by the Jubilee Partners in collaboration with the Polytechnic to provide competency based training for future technicians in the oil and gas as well as allied industries in the country.
