  • Trinidad and Tobago’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Nyahuma Mentuhotep Obika, on Friday called on the Minister for Energy and Petroleum, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

The two held discussions on bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the area of energy.

Mr. Obika said his country would partner the government of Ghana in sharing their wealth of knowledge acquired in the energy sector, especially, the vast experience gained in the production and supply of gas.

Such a partnership, he added, would be based on mutual agreement in the supreme interest of the two countries.

According to him, the government of Trinidad and Tobago, recognizing the mutual benefit the two countries stand to gain, had expressed a desire to work closely with the government of Ghana to provide quality service in the oil and gas sector.

The High Commissioner said an African Desk is being created to coordinate all activities being undertaken by his country in Africa and expressed the hope that the relationship between his country and Africa soars high.

He congratulated the Minister on his appointment, saying ‘I look forward to working with you to improve the relations between the two countries and for the benefit of our people”.

Hon. Buah, for his part, recounted the historical relationship that exists between the two countries.

He said the Government was grateful for the technical assistance so far provided and expressed optimism about the partnership with Trinidad and Tobago, adding that opportunities will be explored for mutual benefit.

The Minister stated that Ghana was willing to learn from the success story of Trinidad and Tobago in the gas sector to ensure that the country gets the full benefits of the industry.
