Tullow Ghana Reacts

  • Tullow Ghana has responded to a recent publication in the 27 April, 2017 edition of the New Statesman captioned, ‘Corruption at Petroleum Commission.’

According to a press release issued in Accra by the Communications Department, the publication contained several inaccuracies and allegations.

Tullow explained that it has not received any letter from the Petroleum Commission ordering it to cease its tender process for the rig contract.

“The Commission has not directed or compelled TGL to sole source any drilling contract and has not raised objection to TGL’s proposal to pre-qualify thirty nine (39) companies for an impending drilling tender.

“TGL strictly complies with its internal procurement rules and standards and are subject to applicable Ghanaian laws, US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and UK Anti-Bribery Act.”

It further indicated that the Commission has not instructed TGL to award any drilling contract to any entity, including Rigworld as alleged in the article.

“Tullow is not aware of any special interest by the Commission in Rigworld and has not been pressured to award contracts to any “special companies” as alleged.”

It therefore assured all stakeholders and contractors that its procurement processes are transparent, subject to stringent regulations to share prosperity with local companies.
