Tullow Oil calls for re-location of houses on project lines

  • An official of British oil producing company, Tullow Oil has called for the relocation of houses on its project lines.

    The Ghana News Agency cites Mr. Gayheart Edem Mensah, Communications Manager Of Tullow Oil Ghana as suggesting that people whose houses were sitting on the project lines at the Jubilee oil field should be re-located.

    Mr. Mensah who was speaking on the topic,“Current Developments in Ghana’s Oil Fields,” at a day’s Continuing Professional Development programme organised by the Tema branch of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), also said the Jubilee Project held prospects for the development of Ghana’s infant oil industry.

    Six partners are working on the Jubilee field which is said to be the largest oil field to be discovered in West Africa in the last 10 to 15 years. According to Tullow it contains 1.5 billion barrels of oil.

    The partners are Tullow Oil, Kosmos Energy, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, the E.O.Group, Sabre Oil & Gas Holdings Ltd (1.854%) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, (GNPC).

    Ghana announced the discovery of oil in commercial quantities in June 2007. Commercial production began on December 15, 2010.
