Tullow Oil to avail its self for scrutiny over tax issues

  • SOURCE: | qwesa2big
  • Jubilee operator Tullow Oil has indicated it is willing to open its doors to any institution that wants to verify whether it is fully meeting its tax obligations.

The move is in response to recent allegations that oil companies operating in the Jubilee field, including Tullow, are abusing the country’s tax and immigration laws, a claim which has already been dismissed by the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The Association of Oil and Gas Service Providers however insists the named companies have a case to answer.

A statement issued by Tullow Oil said though the company has complied with all the country’s laws it would still welcome any institution that wants to reassure itself.

The Communications Manager of Tullow Oil, Mr Gayheart Mensah, said "we are willing to engage with any institution that is interested in having a deeper appreciation of how we conduct our business, the extent to which we pay heed to what is required in terms of taxes, in terms of work arrangement and all."
