Tullow oil Ghana has told Citi Business News it is ready to comply fully with the judgment of the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in the ongoing dispute over the maritime boundary between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.
According to Tullow it however supports wholly the position of Ghana in the court battle.“We are supporting the government’s position entirely because we think it is the right position. We are supporting the government, collaborating with the government by way of information exchange, providing information, clarifying some of the points …we are satisfied that the government position is the right one and we support the government”, the General Manager of Tullow Ghana, Charles Darku said.

Cote d’Ivoire is seeking an injunction on oil exploration activities by Tullow Oil in the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) oilfields.

Ghana in defense has said the injunction if granted would mean an “irreparable damage” and “irremediable injustice” to the country.

“The court hasn’t taken a decision, as soon as it does, we will take actions in response to that decision appropriately, we will take actions to fulfill those decisions. ( But) mind you it is an arbitration between two governments , so we are working with the Ghana government, so Ghana government will then give us the appropriate instructions and we will comply”, Mr. Darku confirmed in an interview with Citi Business News.
