Workshop to discuss better management of oil revenue in Ghana

    Natural Resource Governance Institute on 2nd June, 2015 will hold a day workshop to discuss accountability and transparency challenges around Ghana’s Petroleum revenues. The workshop which will form part of the Institute’s quest for accountability and transparency in the extractive sector.

    Within the framework of Petroleum Revenue Management Act (Act 815) 2011, the workshop will serve multiple purpose , including the practical and theoretical challenges in assessing the spending of petroleum revenues Ghana: Building discussions on the use of open data to drive policy discussions . Moreover, the workshop will draw on the experience of participants to drive debates on necessary reforms.

    The workshop under the theme ‘’strengthening oversight of the spending of the petroleum revenues in Ghana: what more do we need?’’ will see experts like Emmanuel Kuyole , Mark Evans speaking on Difficulties in creating accountability in spending and Samuel Osei Bekoe on transparency in extractive revenue in Ghana: what EITI and PIAC reports offer.

    There will also be panel discussions on Accountability around petroleum revenues, improving and making use of open data on spending of petroleum revenues and building a common platform for advocacy.

    The outcome from these discussion will be pulled together by NRGI in policy brief that will be used in further discussion with the relevant institutions.
