  • ZENAn indigenous oil marketing company, ZEN Petroleum Limited, has attained the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) 9001 certification after months of rigorous assessment of its operations and safety regulations by the global body.

The company was awarded the certification after meeting the requirements of the internationally respected Quality Management System (QMS) standards-measuring instrument, the ISO 9001:2008.

It’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr Paul Twum-Barimah, said in a press statement copied to the Graphic Business that the latest development was a significant milestone in the operations of the company.

“Quality is a central component of our mission and our culture. We are committed to the on-going development and delivery of superior products that align with our vision of creating a truly pollution free world,” he said.

He said the certification was another indication that indigenous OMCs are ready to operate efficiently in the downstream petroleum sector which is currently dominated by foreign-owned businesses.

ZEN’s QMS process was facilitated by the Victory Consult, led by Mr J. Hendrick Klufio.

    About ISO 9001

The ISO 9001 certification is an industry standard that verifies the integrity of the recipient organisation’s QMS.

It recognises the company’s ability to meet customers’ quality requirements while continually improving operational processes.

As a result, Mr Barimah-Twum said the certification supports ZEN Petroleum’s idea of becoming a leader within the downstream sector.

“It is a testament to the company’s ability to deliver quality products to customers across a wide spectrum of vertical markets,” he added.

The ISO is a non-governmental membership organisation and the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards. It develops and promulgates a standard which seeks to ensure desirable characteristics of products and services such as quality, environmental friendliness, safety, reliability, efficiency and interchange ability — all at an economical cost.
